Four days -- we were snowed in for four days. Well, actually, we were iced in for 3 and snowed in for 1. No school, not much getting out. Today the sun, the glorious sun, was out and pretty much all the ice and snow melted and the roads are clear. Johnny and I got out this morning and shoveled snow and ice off our driveway and sidewalk. Not that we needed to because later in the day it would have all melted. It just felt so good to be outside, soaking in some vitamin D. Jessica and I went to the mall. It was great to be out of the house! Not that I don't love my family and love the togetherness. We played Wii and Scene It and Rock Band and Sequence and ate -- and I cooked and we ate. And, we had dirty dishes and we put them in the dishwasher, ran it, and then cleaned it out. I think we've run that dishwasher more this week than any other week since we moved into this house.
I really tried to appreciate the week even though my schedule and routine were wrecked. We are so often running and doing and going we rarely stop and take it easy and enjoy family time and down time. I read this week. I relaxed when it wasn't a weekend. I rested both physically and mentally. I tried to be still before God and to not do all the talking.
This week was an unexpected pleasure and I'm thankful for it. I'm not sure how many of the school days will have to be made up but I'm sure it will all work out. I'm behind on a few things but not stressed about it. I'm looking forward to tomorrow - seeing my Life Group gals and hearing them recite their memory verses. I'm excited to participate in corporate worship and hear my husband bring the Word. And, I'm excited to get back on a schedule! And in a routine where life is a little more predictable.
